Situated in an ideal setting, just 64 kilometers south of the Korean Peninsula, is Korea′s largest island, Jeju. Jeju is a magical place known for 3 things: roaring winds, magnificent rocks, and women since there is a larger population of women than men. As one of the host cities for the 2002 Korea/Japan FIFA World Cup, Jeju′s Seogwipo City made the most charming places to host it. Jeju is a focal point of international affairs and is able to offer people many kinds of recreational activities with breathtaking vistas, a temperate climate, and a unique traditional culture. Located in the center of this volcanic island are Mt. Hallasan (a dormant volcano), which is filled with over 1,800 species of vegetation, scores of deer, and an ecosystem that will surely amaze everyone. Jeju offers unbelievably breathtaking views from coast to coast, ranging from the waterfalls at Hae-anjidae to the naturally sculpted cliffs at JusangJeolli. Tourists can enjoy each season in Jeju with a particular splash of color; brilliant yellow-colored flowers in the spring that spread across the landscape, the golden beaches and sea vistas in the summertime, the Eulalia’s light brown wispy reeds flowing in the autumn winds, and the lovely snow flowers of Hallasan in winter are all must-sees of Jeju. These wonders of the world can be enjoyed by hiking, bike riding, paragliding, scuba diving, windsurfing, hunting, horseback riding, swimming, and going on boat trips. Jeju also has a wide variety of native foods such as the delicious Jeju tangerines and native dishes including red-tile fish stew, grilled and seasoned red-tile fish, rice porridge with abalone, pheasant dishes, and hairtail fish soup. Jeju is more than simply a tourist destination; it is an island full of wonder, making the most of its charm and beauty to attract considerable numbers of tourists and with its geopolitical location, Jeju is in the process of changing into an International Free City. Jeju promises to be an island that rides the wave of technology while still keeping true to its ecological treasures.

The most stunning island I′ve ever seen! A volcanic, oval-shaped island, in the most southern region of Korea, has phenomenal natural beauty, historical legacies, quirky museums, and an array of water sports, which makes it one of the best vacation spots in Korea. The Jeju daily tour of EAST Course includes the most attractive tourism attraction on the EAST side of Jeju with reasonable prices!! Highlights - Trick to your eyes in Trickart Museum - Hear folk songs and legends at Seongeup Folk Village - See Woman Diver Show with your own eyes, taste fresh seafood they catch, and take pictures with them - Visit Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone was designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site - Pass by Jondalri shore road with a beautiful view of the Jeju ocean - Climb the crater of Seongsan Sunrise Peak and be amazed by the Manjanggul Lava Tube

  1. 섭지코지2.PNG Jeju the largest island in Korea is bustling with domestic and international tourists all year round. You can enjoy each season in Jeju with a particular splash of color; brilliant yellow-colored flowers that spread across the landscape especially in May. Jeju is often described as ""Natures Paradise in the north pacific"". Its nature and cultural heritages have been preserved as best as possible and all cultural and natural treasures are waiting to be discovered by visitors. It will be the most optimal time to discover this fantasy island.
  2. 용두암2.PNG Situated to the north of Jeju City, Yongduam was created by strong winds and waves over thousands of years. However, there are plenty of other stories of how it came to be. One legend has it that a dragon stealing precious jade from Mt. Halla was shot down by an arrow from the mountain deity. When he fell down on Yongduam, his body immediately sank into the ocean and his head rapidly froze looking at the sky. Another legend has it that a white horse, who dreamed of being a dragon and ascending to the sky, came to be caught by a soldier and froze into the rock. From Yongduam, visitors can see Haeneo women divers working on catching seafood. Near the rock are various cafes, bars, and restaurants. The coastal road between Aewol-eup and Yongduam is a popular spot for couples. Cafes and seafood restaurants began to appear there five years ago and now form a pleasant caf? village.
  3. 도깨비도로.jpg The Jeju Mysterious Road, also known as Dokkaebi Road, lies on a hill at the foot of a mountain, and connects two major highways on Jejudo Island. It has earned its name, as objects and liquid appear to roll and flow up the hill instead of down, when, in fact, such image of gravity defiance is an optical illusion rendered by the seemingly high surroundings.
  4. 산굼부리1.jpg Sangumburi is a crater with a circumference of over 2 km, and has been designated as a Natural Monument. It is located on the southeast side of Jeju-si, and is a flat crater, about 650 meters wide, 100 meters deep, and 2,070 meters in circumference. If you look at the crater from above up, it looks like a man-made circular stadium. There is a variety of plant-life in the crater. On the north side, Nandaeseong vegetation such as red-thorn trees, and magnolia trees grow, along with the rare winter strawberries. On the south side of the crater, Ondaerim vegetation such as evergreens, maples, and mountain strawberry trees cover the area. Because so many different kinds of trees and plants grow in such a limited space, it attracts the attention of researchers as well.
  5. 만장굴1.PNG Manjanggul Cave is one of the finest lava tunnels in the world, and is a designated natural monument. A lava tunnel is formed when the lava that was deep in the ground spouts from the peak and flows to the surface. Manjanggul Cave has a variety of interesting structures inside including 70cm lava stalagmites and the lava tube tunnels. Only 1km of the 13,422m Manjanggul Cave is open to the tourists. The inside of the tunnel sustains at a temperature of 11~21℃, creating a comfortable atmosphere. There are rare animals such as bats living in the tunnel, which makes this tunnel valuable for researchers as well. The stone pillars and stalactites are widely spread and the tunnels shows off the cave’s topographical features.
  6. 비자림숲.jpg Designated as a natural monument, ‘Bijarim Forest’ has a group of about 2,800 nutmeg trees between 500 and 800 years old. They are 7-14m in height and 50-110cm in diameter. This is the largest nutmeg tree forest in the world. In the middle of the forest is an 800-year-old, called ‘Ancestor tree of the Bija trees’. The tree is the oldest tree on Jeju-do Island with height of 25 meters and girth of whopping 6 meters. The evergreen trees emit a lot of Phytoncide, which is said to strengthen immune system and natural healing ability of human body. Actually, nutmeg tree blossoms and the oil are said to be used as insecticides in the past. There are also rare orchids and plants growing in the forest and walkway in the forest renovated for visitors to enjoy forest walks through the wonderful forest.
  7. 성산일출봉.jpg Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone was formed by Surtseyan-type hydrovolcanic activity upon a shallow seabed about 5,000 years ago when the sea level was same as the present (Sohn & Chough, 1992; Sohn et al., 2002). Most volcanic cones or oreums (Jeju dialect for volcanic cones) were formed by piles of scoria cones which are created by Hawaiian eruptions or Strombolian eruptions. But Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone and a few other oreums on Jeju Island were hydromagmatic volcanoes which were made by piles of volcanic ash, the interaction of hot ascending magma and seawater or ground water. Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone is 180 meters high, and its crater is about 600 meters in diameter. It has a dip of strata up to 45 degrees and is 90 meters from sea level to the crater floor. Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone erupted in very moist and sticky conditions allowing a lot of water to permeate into the volcanic vent, making the diverse depositional features of a wet eruption. The wet hydrovolcanic activity continued until the end of the eruption. Consequently the tuff has a bowl-like crater unfilled by scoria or lava. Except for the northwestern park, the Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone forms a steep cliff because of the resultant wave following its eruptions. Through these eruptions, Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone shows a perfect cross section from the intracrater strata to the marginal strata. Its diverse geological structures are considered to have great geological importance because they may be used to interpret not only the past volcanic activity of the Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone but also eruptive and depositional processes of hydromagmatic volcanoes worldwide. There are numerous hydromagmatic volcanoes similar to the Seongsan Ilchulbong, but there are no other known hydromagmatic volcanoes with a well-preserved tuff cone and diverse internal structures along a sea cliff. Because of these scientific values and remarkable scenery, Seongsan Ilchulbong Tuff Cone was able to be designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site[1] and it is worth preserving permanently as a natural heritage of humankind.
  8. 섭지코지3.PNG Seopjikoji is located at the end of the eastern shore of Jeju-do Island. ""Seopji"" is the old name for the area, and ""Koji"" is Jeju dialect meaning a sudden bump on land. Green fields without a single tree spread beyond the cliff to where a rock called ""seondol"" protrudes. Also there are stonewalls along the road to block the wind on the way to the lighthouse at the end of Seopjikoji. Within the stonewalls, you may find the most brilliant rapeseed flower fields every April. Going up the metal steps of the lighthouse, you can view the whole seashore at a glance. On Koji hill, there stands a stone Bongsudae (4 m high, 9 m long and wide) that retains its original form.
