Information

Jeon-Ju is a city in South Korea and the capital of North Jeolla Province. It is both urban and rural due to the closeness of Wanju County which almost entirely surrounds Jeonju. (Wanju County has many residents who work in Jeonju.) The name Jeonju literally means "Perfect Region" (from the hanja 全 (전; jeon) for perfect, 州 (주; ju) for region). It is an important tourist center famous for Korean food, historic buildings, sports activities, and innovative festivals.

In May 2012, Jeonju was chosen as a Creative Cities for Gastronomy as part of UNESCO's Creative Cities Network. This honor recognizes the city's traditional home cooking handed down over thousands of years, its active public and private food research, a system of nurturing talented chefs, and its hosting of distinctive food festivals

Itinerary

Hotel(Seoul) → Jeonju Hanokmaeul → Amethyst or Ginseng Center → Hotel(Seoul)
  1. info_photo_678_1.JPG Hanok Village was on the Jeonju River-side outside West Gate which is near present-day Daga-dong. The area was where Japanese people who flooded into Jeonju after the Eulsa Treaty (1905) mainly resided. Areas outside the West Gate were mostly inhabited by lower-class people or merchants. There were clear distinctions between classes at that time and the City wall served as the dividing line. For several years after 1930 Koreans started to build Hanok Village throughout the PungNam-dong and Gyo-dong area mainly as a reaction to the continued expansion of Japanese influence. This was partially a response against Japanese-style houses and partially an expression of national pride. Hanok areas in Gyo-dong and PungNam-dong built in the 1930's showed clear contrast with the Japanese style and displayed some odd city color as they included Western style missionary houses schools and churches nearby. Looking over from Omokdae the Hanok Village in Gyo-dong and Pungnam-dong shows majestic ridges of octagonal roofs with beautiful round lines and shapes.
  2. 인삼 자수정5.png The colour of Amethyst is as unique as it is seductive, though in fact this gemstone of all gemstones is said to protect its wearer against seduction. Korean Amethyst is extravagance in violet since it has been formed from granite stone base since 5000 years. Moses described it as a symbol of the Spirit of God in the official robes of the High Priest of the Jews, and the Russian Empress Catherine the Great sent thousands of miners into the Urals to look for it. It was said to protect crops against tempests and locusts, bring good fortune in war and in the hunt, drive out evil spirits and inspire the intellect.  Ginseng is renowned for its effectiveness as a great healer for living ever so young.Especially if you eat ginseng when you lose your energy, it really helps to regain energy.Korea is acknowledged by the world because of the quality of ginseng as if it is the birthplace of ginseng. You can experience various kinds of ginseng products like gingersnap, extract, ginseng preserved in honey, and other great quality of products made in Korea.
