  1. 대포항.jpg The red lighthouse of Daepohang Port is famous as it is the first object that meets the eyes of travelers just as they come down Hangyeryeong hill. The port is also famous for the good catch of flatfish flounders and yellow tails. Squid fishing is also an interesting sight. The market here is a good place to have a dish of fresh sushi.

Soraksan and Naksan Provincial Park near Naksan Beach. Inside the temple there are cultural assets such as the Hongnyeonam, Hermitage a bronze bell and Hongyemun Gate. The Sinseonbong Peak of Mt. Naksan is crowned by the Buddhist statue of Haesugwaneumsang which stands 16m high on a 2.8m high pedestal. 4. 신흥사.JPG Shinheung Temple is easily accessible to tourists visiting Sorak Mountain and located in Sokongwon. The area that surrounds Sokongwon actually belongs to Shinheung Temple. It is a popular walking trail and only a ten minute walk from the ticket booth at Sokongwon to the main hall of this temple. Historically this temple was originally one of the branches of the Kunbong Temple from 1912 and then was enthroned as a main temple in 1971 to become the most historical and impressive temple in the Sorak Mountain area. The history of this temple goes back to the Shilla Dynasty (652) and was originally founded by Master Jazang who named it Hangsung Temple. Since then this temple has been rebuilt numerous times.
  5. 권금성.jpg Gwongeumseong Fortress is the site of a castle ruins called Mt. Seoraksan, and it is also known as Mt. Onggeumsan Castle, or Toto Castle. It is located on the steep Dol Mountain of Mt. Seoraksan Sogongwon area. It is believed to have been built by the 23rd King of the Goryeo Period (918~1392), Gojong (1213~1259 reign). It is also called Gwon-Kim Castle, as there is a legend that two generals named Gwon and Kim, built the castle to avoid war. At the left side of Sogongwon, past the Biryonggyo Bridge over the ravine, there is a path which leads to Gwongeumseong Castle, but it takes over an hour of travel through a steep, rocky path (2.5km), so cable cars are used. The cable car was installed by Dr. Gi-Sup Lee in 1971 and is still used by many tourists. It is operated from 7 a.m. to 6 or 6:30 p.m., departs every 7 minutes, and you can only purchase round-trip tickets at the ticket counter for that day. At the plateau of Gwongeumseong Castle there are 80 sections of rocks and you can see the East Sea and city of Sokcho. Also, to the west, you can see all kinds of fantastic rocks and stones which make up the Seoraksan Mountains. A cable car ride to Gwongeum Castle provides visitors with a view of the valleys which seem to boast of their respective beauty. Mt. Seorak provides different characteristics for each season. You can see wild flowers in the spring waterfalls and clear streams in the summer various colorful foliage in the fall and white snow in the winter.
